Our History

PMEI has changed names three times since it’s founding. It began in August of 1987, under the name of Aurora Montessori, with 12 preschool students.  The following year, enrollment grew to 45 students.  Space was leased in the town of Parker and the name changed to the Montessori School of Parker.  The school leased space from 1988 through 1991, then decided to expand into a permanent building.  In the fall of 1991, the building was complete and the school expanded to 130 students, between the ages of 1 – 12 years.  The growth of the school continued so that in the fall of 1993 an addition was built to provide education for approximately 175 students, and the school changed its name to Parker Montessori Educational Institute. In the summer of 1999 a second addition was completed. PMEI now offers Montessori education to 100 students from age 12 months and steadily walking to Kindergarten.
